The low back is an area almost everyone will have a problem with at some point in their life. It is made up of small bones stacked one on top of another, separated by a disk, that create tiny joints that stack on top of one another that all add up to produce the movement that allows us to bend forward, side to side, and twist and turn. In between those joints is a nerve that leaves the low back and supplies areas of the buttock, leg and in to the foot. It is then surrounded by a great deal of muscles from the back and core. The low back is a very common area of injury or pain. However, many times it is not the low back structures themselves that are the problem, but rather mobility and strength issues from the hips or other surrounding areas.
