Matt is the founder and CEO of New Life Physical Therapy and New Life For Work. He earned his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University in 1996 and his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Calvin College in 1993. He is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist. He is also certified as an orthopedic manipulative therapist through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapists, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. He also completed a Fellowship in Applied Functional Science through the Gray Institute in 2007, and is a certified dry needling provider. Matt on occasion will practice out of the Portage location, but mainly oversees New Life For Work industrial onsite programs, works in several onsite industrial locations and volunteers at the St. Vincent DePaul Free Clinic in Portage.
Matt is also a founding board member of Invisage and Kinexcare, respective national and state physical therapy alliances focusing on innovating and collaborating to decrease health care costs and outcomes for consumers. Â He is a current mentor and instructor through Madison’s orthopedic residency and active member of national and state chapter physical therapy associations. He has lectured to groups nationally and in the state of WI on physical therapy practice and the health care marketplace. Locally he is a member of Rotary and has served as chairman of his local church board.
What Matt likes most about being a physical therapist: “I love to empower people to get them back to what they love and need to do.”
Outside of work: Matt enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, biking, windsurfing, coaching soccer, and golfing. His life goal is to honor and glorify God in all things.

Mary Rose is a physical therapist that practices at Portage location and onsite at a New Life For Work industrial location. She is bilingual in Spanish. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Marquette University in 2010. Prior to her studies in physical therapy, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in biomedical sciences with additional coursework in Spanish for the medical professions and business management. Throughout her years at Marquette, she traveled on three international medical mission trips to Honduras where she was an active member in traveling brigades to underserved communities and villages throughout Honduras. She completed a year-long orthopedic residency program through UW Hospitals & Clinics/Meriter to advance her orthopedic clinical practice and reasoning. She is a certified dry needling provider, and has additional continuing education through McKenzie, Maitland, Mulligan, and the Neuro Orthopaedic Institute. She is a current mentor and instructor through Madison’s orthopedic residency and active member of national and state chapter physical therapy associations. Mary Rose is the Director of Clinical Care for New Life and Clinic Director of the Portage and Westfield locations.
What Mary Rose likes most about being a physical therapist: “I love being a physical therapist because I have the privilege to get to know my patients personally, to understand their individual goals and to work together to achieve best outcomes using my knowledge and skills.”
Outside of work: Mary Rose loves spending time with her husband, golden retriever “Addy”, family and friends; being outdoors; playing piano; gardening; cooking; and is currently training for Ironman Wisconsin 2016, enjoying all aspects of running, biking, swimming, and associated training!
Kris Hellenbrand PT Physical Therapist

Kris is a physical therapist practicing at the Portage and Westfield clinic locations.Â Kris earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Carroll University and has been a physical therapist in the Portage area since 2003.Â She enjoys working with people of all ages to help them achieve their functional goals. After experiencing her own pelvic floor dysfunction after the birth of her second child, Kris developed a passion for women’s health physical therapy (treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, and urinary incontinence). She also specializes in visceral manipulation and is a certified dry needling provider.
What Kris likes most about being a physical therapist:Â “I get to know each individual (in mind, body and spirit) and help to empower them reach their goals for getting back to the activities that they want and need to do.”
Outside of work:Â Kris enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and two black labs.Â She enjoys biking, hiking, playing sports with her family and watching sports âˆ’Â Go Bucky and Go Pack!
Jordan Hove PT, DPT Physical Therapist

Jordan is a physical therapist at Portage and Westfield clinic locations. Jordan earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in May 2016 from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Prior to physical therapy school, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Jordan grew up in River Falls, WI, a small town on the Western edge of Wisconsin near the Twin Cities. He has recently moved to the local area, as the greater Madison area is where he wants to be for the long term future. Jordan has a passion for better understanding chronic pain and helping others understand what pain is and how to best combat it in order to continue to move and enjoy life.
What Jordan likes most about being a physical therapist: “I enjoy patient interactions and education the most when it comes to physical therapy because I believe in empowering people to take their care/health into their own hands. No one should let a physical ailment stop them from doing the activities that make life worth living for them.”
Outside of work: Jordan enjoys spending time with his girlfriend who is currently going to OT school in La Crosse and staying active via running, biking, weight lifting and sports. Sports are one of his biggest passions and he is a die-hard Packers and Badgers fan, despite growing up so close to Minnesota. Go Pack Go! WiscONsin!
Dante Leone PT, DPT, CSCS Physical Therapist

Dante is a physical therapist practicing at our Portage and Baraboo locations. Dante earned his doctorate in physical therapy in 2015 from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Dante attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for his undergraduate studies, earning a bachelor of science degree in rehabilitation psychology. While at UW, Dante continued his passion for sports as a member of the football team for the 2005-2006 season, before deciding to focus on his academic and professional future. Dante continues to have an affection for sports and working with athletes of all types, be it competitive or recreational sports, or more functional life sports, such as playing with your children or grandchildren. Whatever activity is important to you, he trusts physical therapy can benefit your return to that activity. Dante has completed training to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He also is an ImPACT Trained Physical Therapist (ITPT), giving him advanced knowledge and skills in concussion management and rehabilitation. Dante truly believes in exercise and movement as medicine for the mind, body, and soul.
What Dante likes most about being a physical therapist:

Outside of work:Dante loves spending time with his wife, dog, friends and family. He enjoys the outdoors by camping, hiking, canoeing, and biking. He is always rooting for his beloved Badgers; On Wisconsin! Finally, Dante and his wife are excited to be welcoming a new member to their family, with Baby Boy Leone due in September.
Kyle Herbert PTA Physical Therapist Assistant

Kyle earned his Associate Degree in Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Madison College. He has experience as a track coach and as a physical therapy aide with New Life for a number of years. He is a FSBPT Certified Physical Therapist Assistant. Kyle practices at the Portage and Westfield New Life locations.
Brandon Spoon Office Manager / Marketing Coordinator New Life Team Member Since 2012
Brandon manages the patient services team and administrative functions of all New Life clinics. He oversees New Life’s billing, accounts, and facilities, maintains New Life’s website, directs social media accounts, produces video and photography, and leads events such as our monthly workshops. He works with the patient services team to ensure ongoing excellent customer service, and, as our patient experience manager, he communicates directly with patients regarding any questions and concerns.
What Brandon likes most about working at New Life Physical Therapy/with patients: “I love getting to know our patients and maintaining New Life’s connection with them through social media and events.”
Outside of work: Brandon likes to bike, play tennis, travel, watch movies, and college football.
Nancy Kowalke Patient Services New Life Team Member Since 2008
Nancy is a patient services specialist working at the Portage location. Her area of focus is verifying insurance benefits for patients, investigating insurance claim billing errors, preparing credentialing applications for physical therapists, completing medical records requests for attorneys and insurance companies, front desk reception, and customer service.
What Nancy likes most about working at New Life Physical Therapy/with patients: “I enjoy the activity of the clinic, and hearing the appreciation from patients on how much better they feel after having received their therapy at New Life.”
Outside of Work:Nancy enjoys spending time outdoors with her pets, taking walks, and spending time with family doing various activities or projects.
